I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, author, and the founder of Chapman Counseling & Consulting in Conway, Arkansas. Since 2017, my clinical work has focused on helping individuals, families, and healthcare professionals navigate the complexities of disordered eating, chronic illness, and medical weight stigma.
My foundation in mental health is built on diverse, hands-on care across the lifespan. I began my career in education, earning a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and teaching fourth grade, as well as serving as a caregiver for adults with special needs. These early experiences shaped my deep commitment to developmental care, advocacy, and meeting people exactly where they are. After completing my Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counselor Education, I honed my clinical skills across outpatient mental health clinics and higher-acuity programs, including Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) settings. Supporting clients through acute crises solidified my understanding of where traditional treatment frameworks succeed—and where systemic gaps often leave patients feeling dismissed. Today, through my private practice and consulting work, I offer trauma-informed, weight-neutral clinical care designed to rebuild body trust and foster sustainable recovery. As the author of Breaking Diet Culture: A Guide for Providers, Families and Patients When the Medical System Abandons You, I also partner with medical practices, clinicians, and organizations to challenge harmful diet culture norms and implement ethical, patient-centered care models. |
